Who are the Army Cadet Force?

It is sponsored by the Army and provides challenging military, adventurous and community activities. Founded in 1860 its aim is to inspire young people to achieve success in life with a spirit of service to their local Community, their Country and the Queen. All the activities that a Cadet takes part in are designed to develop the qualities that are required of a good citizen. These same qualities were taught to the very first Cadets in 1860, They are:



Teamwork, Leadership, Self Discipline & Self Reliance

Providing progressive cadet training, often of a challenging nature, to foster confidence, self reliance, loyalty and a sense of service to other people.

Encouraging the development of personal powers of practical leadership and the ability to work successfully as a member of a team.

Stimulating an interest in the Armed Forces, it's achievements, skills and values.

Advising and preparing those considering a career in the services or with the Reserve Forces.


12 to 18 Years Old? This could be for you

Auchterader Detachment is part of the Black Watch Battalion Royal Regiment of Scotland Army Cadet Force, which covers Perthshire and Fife.The Battalion is divided in to 4 Companies. 4 times a year each company meets up for a weekend camp at one of the Cadet Training Centres in either Dunkled or Glenrothes. At these camps you can expect to be involved in a whole range of exciting activities, from Target Shooting, to First Aid, from learning the basics of Navigation to competing in an Orienteering team, or just letting your hair down at the Company disco. All the events that you will take part in are run by highly qualified and dedicated Instructors.

In addition to the 4 weekend camps you will have the opportunity to attend 2 week long camps either Cartoon picture of an early morning wake up call using a large gong in Scotland or elsewhere in the UK. At these camps you will meet other Cadets from the Battalion and have the opportunity to try your hand at activities like Rock-Climbing, Abseiling or Canoeing. You will even have the opportunity to take part in a 24 hour Field Exercise; where you will work hard, have very little sleep but above all have fun. And when its finished, it's time to head to the NAAFI for a game of Pool, or play on the Arcade machines listening to the Juke Box and chat about the last 24 hours with your new found friends.
